GMail: Get Rid of the Lines in Long Threads

Have you ever been involved in a long GMail thread with a gazillion lines running down the left side? The reason for this is, by default, people's signature line gets placed at the very bottom of the thread and the lines connect each message to the signature that goes with it.

Here's an example of how it can look:

If you're Bridget Riley and lines are kind of your thing, this is not the tech tip for you. But, if you'd rather they disappear into the horizon...follow these steps.

1. In GMail, click the gear icon to open the settings menu
2. Select 'Settings'

3. Scroll down to the 'Signature' section and check the box that says 'Insert this signature before quoted text in replies and remove the "--"line that precedes it."

4. That's it! Your emails will look just a little cleaner!
